Canon PIXMA MG3150 All-in-One Colour Printer (Print, Copy, Scan, Wi-Fi and Auto Duplex)

Canon PIXMA MG3150 All-in-One Colour Printer (Print, Copy, Scan, Wi-Fi and Auto Duplex)

I bought this printer some weeks ago. Until now , I did not use it so many times but it works well. I am satisfied with the quality of the printing as I bought it for my CV. The scan is a good one too. And for people like me ( I mean not so clever with technology ;-) it's very easy to set it up. I did it by myself, reading, following the instructions. It's delivered with a USB cable too.
The only cons until now is the noise that this printer makes every time it works...but it's not a big problem (for me at least).
I would recommend it for people with no big needs in printing. A very good ratio quality/price.

I bought this printer to replace a 9 year old HP printer as I wanted a basic printer which was wireless and had auto-duplex printing. This was one of the only printers I could find at this price with both features.

Although set up took a little while because the instructions missed a few steps, it was easy enough to guess which options to choose so the printer was up and running within around half an hour. It prints and photocopies very well, both in colour and black and white, though colour copying is slower. I like that I can print a colour document in black and white to save on colour cartridges as my old printer didn't give this option. Starting up the printer is a tad slow and noisy but, overall, I think this is a great value household printer.

I bought this because I wanted a front-loading wireless printer to fit into a small space in my flat. The printer - and wireless connection - were very easy to set up (I am by no means a techie)and works well. Print quality is good.

I bought this printer primarily because it supports AirPrint (iPhone/iPad printing) and at 45cm wide x 36.6cm deep x 16.6cm high it isn't a huge beast of a machine. It comes in a sleek gloss black and though I don't think it would win any beauty contests, it looks smart on a shelf. It feels a bit cheap to handle, but to be fair it is an inexpensive machine.

Out of the box, setting up is quick and easy. The interface is a wheel/button combo but the wheel can be fiddly. The wheel turns around with very little resistance, so when you let go sometimes it moves again and selects something you didn't mean to. And the arrangement of buttons can be misleading as it appears to direct you to the left hand button under the screen, when actually you need to press the centre of the wheel.

Since the AirPrint feature was the main reason I bought this printer, I was keen to try printing from my iPad. Unfortunately my iPad couldn't "see" the printer, so I was unable to print unless I went through Canon's (free) iEPP app. Fortunately after a little research, I found that updating the printer's firmware solved the problem and I was up and running - easy to do but should you really have to do this for a printer that has only been out for a couple of weeks?

The main strength of this printer is it's photo printing which is decent quality and very fast (about 20 seconds for a 6" x 4" print). I take pictures on my iPhone and send them wirelessly to the printer, though you can also print directly from a camera's SD. It is very quick to warm up, so no waiting around while your printer makes R2D2 noises before starting a print job! If noise is a concern there is a quiet mode, though this slows printing speed. You can stock it with paper in the tray underneath or slide it in the back so you can keep A4 in one and photo paper in the other and the printer will select the appropriate source. If you forget to open the output tray after sending a document to print, it automatically opens (I'm a sucker for a gimmick!). If you are printing text, duplex printing (printing both sides without having to manually turn the pages over) is a feature that can save you a lot of paper. I haven't tried it yet, but it is apparently even capable of printing onto CD/DVD. It won't print A3 like my old printer did, but the number of times I actually did this were very few and far between.

Scanning is excellent and can be controlled from the iPad (put document on flatbed scanner, then on iPad select size and press go). It is much quicker than the scanners of old (well, the nineties and noughties) that I remember and you don't need to wait around while it generates a preview and then a final scan.

Ink isn't the cheapest but it's not ridiculously expensive either, and the five single inks mean that if one runs out you only need to replace that one.

Just ordered this through Shop4USB through Amazon as it was the best price available. Delivery was next day after it was posted and I must say I am well impressed with this printer. I haven't tested the scanner yet, but reading the other reviews here, it appears to be really good. Print quality is great and I dont find it too noisy compared to other printers I have owned in the past.

Setup was easy, although during Setup, and connection to Wifi, at the end after entering my Wifi Password, the software seemed to stall and didn't continue onto the next stage which was to install the Canon software. So I switched the printer Off, then On again and then it showed up in Windows OK.

Mine also works direct from my IPad but it appears that the software I got with mine is up to date.

For those who can't find the firmware update on the Canon website, you are probably making the same mistake that I made first time round - that it when it comes to selecting the model of printer, it doesn't appear to be there - because in the Product Type, you have selected Printer, instead of Multifunction. Here's the link for those who may need it - you'll probably need to copy and paste into your web browser if it doesn't show up as a link: [...]

For those who have IPads and want to print from your Ipad to other printers that are 'not' wireless and are using them with their home PC, you can print directly to a lot of different makes of printers by getting a great APP called Airprint. This is a fantastic App and it worked with my previous two Epson printers. You can download a Trial Version to see if it works with your printer, and if it does, then you can buy it like I did - its only a few quid and well worth it. Enjoy !!!

Over the years I have owned many printers and this is the best so far.

I have a relatively low usage requirement and minimal use of colour. However I do scan documents fairly frequently.

When I bought a new computer and 'upgraded' to Win7 I found that my existing Dell printer did not have a 64 bit driver so I looked for a replacement. After doing an online review search I fixed on the MG5250 but could not then purchase it since nobody seemed to have any stock. Finally finding someone who claimed to have stock I ordered and was pleased to receive the MG 5350 instead.

Set-up as a wireless network printer was a dream. The software takes you through the steps with illustrations all the way. Probably the best set-up software I have ever used. Within 30 minutes I had all three of our computers linking to it. Two of these are Win7 machines and the other XP.

After a month's use I am still very pleased with this purchase. Printing is fast as is scanning and the duplex printing actually works which is a new thing for me. I will not use it very often but having it available will save time on occasions.

There are two paper feeds and I have A4 in one and DL envelopes in the other. I very seldom need to change this.

My only issue is that if you have not printed for some time, such as overnight, when you do want to print it goes through what I assume is a nozzle cleaning exercise that takes a couple of minutes before the first page appears.

Overall Excellent.
